Achieving Authorisation

NHS Eastern Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group aims to become a fully authorised statutory NHS organisation responsible for commissioning health services for the people of Eastern Cheshire by 1st April 2013.  In order to achieve this, we need to be “authorised” by the NHS Commissioning Board authority.  This means that we have to submit a wide range of documents to the NHS Commissioning Board that prove that NHS Eastern Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group has the right skills, structures and processes in place to be able to fully take on its commissioning responsibilites.

The NHS Commissioning Board are looking for evidence in six different domains, which are:

Domain One: Strong clinical and multi-professional focus which brings real added value

Domain Two: Meaningful engagement with patients, carers and their communities

Domain Three: Clear and credible plans which continue to deliver against the challenges, national requirements and wellbeing strategies

Domain Four: Proper constitutional and governance arrangements

Domain Five: Collaborative arrangements with other CCGs, local authorities and the NHS Commissioning Board

Domain Six: Great leaders who individually and collectively can make a real difference

The evidence that we provide to be assessed against these six domains will provide assurance to the NHS Commissioning Board that NHS Eastern Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group will:

  • commission safely
  • discharge our duties responsibly and manage the NHS budget
  • exercise our functions in relation to governance, improving quality, reducing      inequalities and being efficient
  • commission appropriately to enable  improvements in health, within our resources

NHS Eastern Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group is a transparent, open and inclusive organisation, so we are publishing the core evidence that has been submitted to the NHS Commissioning Board and the feedback reports that we get back from the NHS Commissioning Board.  These can be viewed under the 'achieving authorisation' header.
