Care Homes

The Care Home Quality Team is committed to enhancing the quality and delivery of nursing care within Care Homes; by supporting staff and managers to achieve the optimum levels of care delivery in Eastern Cheshire.

What are our responsibilities?

We are responsible for quality assuring care provided in Care Homes commissioned by NHS Eastern Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group.  This means care that is provided to people in receipt of Funded Nursing Care Continuing Healthcare and funding under Section 117.

We work closely with the Local Authority Contract Monitoring teams in East Cheshire, the local Adult Safeguarding teams as well as the Care Quality Commission.

What does this mean?

We carry out Quality Assurance visits to the Care Homes, this may be alongside the Local Authority Monitoring Teams, or on separate visits.  We measure quality standards against the nursing Contract with the Homes.  We work in partnership with the Homes where additional support is needed to meet those standards.  We aim to promote innovation, sharing of information and best practice, highlight local developments and networking opportunities for independent sector staff. To assist Care Home staff in meeting the standards, we have collated a toolkit to include useful templates and tools. 

How to report a concern?

Any concerns regarding the standard of care in care homes should be reported to Cheshire East Council, which will investigate in consultation with us.

Care Homes Newsletter

We have joined forces with East Cheshire NHS Trust to launch a bi-monthly newsletter that will offer our care homes lots of great resources to help them provide the best possible services. The newsletter also promotes the work that we and the trust are doing with care homes to ensure that residents continue to be looked after really well, and that they and their loved ones are involved fully in making important decisions.

Topics covered by the newsletter will include the Time to go Home campaign run by the trust and partners to ensure that residents who have been admitted to hospital are returned to their usual address as soon as they have received the treatment they need. This is important as people would rather be at home if it is safe for them to be there while hospital beds are needed for patients who are acutely unwell.
