Primary Care Commissioning Committee

Primary Care services and particularly local GP Practices are the first point of contact in the healthcare system for residents.  

From the 1 April 2016 NHS Eastern Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), has taken greater responsibility and involvement in the design, shaping and commissioning of local general practices through delegated arrangements. Previously the CCG had undertaken joint commissioning arrangements with NHS England (1 April 2015 - 31 March 2016).

The Primary (General Medical) Care Services Commissioning Committee (‘Committee’) is established in accordance with NHS Eastern Cheshire CCG’s Constitution, Standing Orders and Scheme of Delegation. It is a formal decision making Committee of NHS Eastern Cheshire CCG. It has delegated authority to make decisions in relation to Primary (General  Medical) Care Services Commissioning for Eastern Cheshire on behalf of NHS England and NHS Eastern Cheshire CCG.

The Committee comprises of representatives from NHS Eastern Cheshire CCG and representatives from other organisations where appropriate.  It will undertake the function of commissioning a common approach to Primary General Medical Care services for Eastern Cheshire.

Meetings of the Committee are held in public but are not public meetings. Members of the public are invited to attend to listen to the Committee discussions and observe the decision-making process.

The Agenda and supporting papers for each Committee meeting will be made available on this website to the public in the week before the date of the meeting.
