Free health and wellbeing support

Free health and wellbeing support
15 June 2017

We have commissioned a Talking Therapies service to support people with mild to moderate symptoms of stress, anxiety or depression. The service also helps people deal with underlying issues such as isolation and loneliness, money worries or relationship breakdown.

As part of the service, Talking Therapies has employed wellbeing coordinators who provide free  support across Eastern Cheshire.

The coordinators run sessions to look at issues including:

  • managing low-level health conditions
  • increasing physical activity and dietary improvements
  • housing
  • employment
  • bereavement.

The service has launched two types of groups.

The first is a Chill and Chat drop-in where people can get advice and signposting or just have a drink and talk to someone.

The second is a more structured Wellbeing Session which works with people on different topics each week, sometimes with the help of guest speakers. The first topics to be covered will be mindfulness and alternative therapies.

Chill and Chat runs out of Handforth Library on the second and fourth Friday of the month while there are two Wellbeing Sessions each Monday. These are at Hurdsfield Library, Macclesfield from 10.30am to 12 noon and Bromley Farm Wellbeing Hub, Congleton from 1.30pm to 3pm. In addition, there is a drop-in session run by the Macclesfield local area coordinators at the Ryles House Friendship Group from 10.30am to 12.30pm each Friday.
