Joint local area SEND inspection in Cheshire East

Joint local area SEND inspection in Cheshire East
10 May 2018

Following an inspection of services across Cheshire East for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), we have received the outcome letter from government inspectors.

The week-long inspection (12 to 16 March 2018) by Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission came as a result of new government legislation which requires local authorities and health partners to reform the way they support and identify children with SEND.

As part of this process, inspectors attended 60 focus groups, which included contributions from more than 200 staff and 130 parents and carers.

Work is already underway across the 0-25 SEND Partnership to produce a 0-25 SEND Improvement Plan.  This involves engagement with key stakeholders, including parent/carers and young people.  The final plan will be signed off by the Health and Wellbeing Board in July before being submitted to Ofsted before the end of August 2018.
