To reduce the length of time people have to wait to receive the care they need, we have made arrangements for providers of some services to accept referrals from patients themselves. This means that patients don't need to have an appointment with their GP before being considered for treatment.

For clinical reasons, self-referral isn't appropriate for all types of care. However, we're continually looking for opportunities to expand self-referral.

The services to which people can self-refer currently are our community physiotherapy service for people with muscle and joint problems, and our Talking Therapies service for people with mild to moderate stress, anxiety or depression.

Before self-referring to the physiotherapy service, we recommend you click here to learn more about your suitability for the treatment.

You can also self-refer into East Cheshire NHS Trust's podiatry service, the form for doing so can be found here.
